„Quiet paws approach. Light and uncertain. Step by step, hesitantly. I know you, little visitor. You have often climbed through the branches of my sisters, played with the shadows of their leaves, chased the wind in their branches. They have felt your claws in their firm skin. You lurked above their roots, enjoying the sun, defending your territory.

It seems like barely a few moments ago, but a whole life has passed for you. Now you are here again. Light as smoke. As fine as wafts of mist. You are still here.

You have felt a lot under your paws. Soft cushions and carpets. Damp moss and pine needles. Crackling straw and cool, wet earth. On long afternoons, you roamed through tall grass, dry fields and cool forests. You have perceived countless smells and listened to an infinite number of sounds. They reverberate like echoes in your senses.

Now you walk around my trunk and sniff my roots. You feel the moss under your paws, the wind in your fur. But something is different. The smell of the earth is only muffled in your nose. The chirping of the birds, the whispering of the leaves, all of this only reaches you as if through fog.

You can still feel it, the earth, under your paws. But no longer cold, no longer hard. And you are slowly losing the support it used to give you. I can feel your insecurity, little creature. You don’t need to be afraid. So many before you have walked this path and you will find it too. Your steps will become easier. Now you can smell it, your path. With every step you take, you forget your old life with all its struggles and warm rays of sunshine on your fur.

The wind no longer ruffles your fur, it now guides you. With light paws you let yourself be carried away, further and further. Have a good journey, little wanderer, wherever you go.“
